Paul tells the Corinthians to pursue love and strive for the Spiritual gifts, and especially that you may prophesy. A study of the New Testament word for prophesy, shows that it is not foretelling of the future, like the Old Testament word, but a forth-telling of the Word. The way Paul is describing it, is to edify, exhort and bring comfort.
